Colour Fading Banished!
Its ok, you can be honest with us. We know thats not your natural colour.
Youre not alone either, about 85% of the female population colour their hair and by the way, we are so on board with that! We like to keep it real around here so lets face the facts.
Fact 1: Your hair colour is a huge investment both in time and money. If I added up what Ive spent on mine to date, lets just say I wouldn't be writing this right now…
Fact 2: Every colour will fade. We know! Life just isn’t fair. How much and how quickly depends on a lot of variables but you totally have control over that. See, every cloud does have a silver lining…
How can you help us help you? Here are some of the culprits responsible for premature colour fade;
Hair’s Porosity Level: Your general hair health plays a big part, and can limit your options for colour procedures and longevity of colour. Remember that time you told your stylist you wanted to be blonde for summer and she had an aneurysm behind the chair for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Hairdressers are so dramatic. Or are they? The usual suspects that damage hair; lightening, excessive heat, sun and salt water not only leave hair weakened, they also increase hair’s porosity. In healthy hair, the cuticle is closed, protecting the hair shaft. When the cuticle is frayed and lifted, as in the case of highly porous hair, colour and moisture escape too easily leaving behind dull, tired and thirsty strands.
Using Hot Styling Tools Without Heat Protection: OMG! If you haven’t seen the video of colour fading from using irons check this out (Thanks Guy Tang!) We all know hot tools are not kind to colour but that really put it into perspective. I mean, it makes sense right? Its kind of like going out on a first date without a stitch of makeup. Sure you can do it but its unlikely to result in a marriage proposal (or a nightcap (wink emoji)) from your future husband. Anyway, obviously continual use of hot tools without thermal protection is a big no no but we can help you out here too.
